Harmonizing Heart and Soul: A Beginner’s Guide to Navigating Your Energetic Body

Today I want to invite you on a comforting journey, one that might seem a bit mysterious at first, but I promise, it's as natural as the warmth of a sunbeam on a chilly morning. We're going to explore the concept of our energetic bodies and how they're influenced by the world around us. If you're new to this idea or find it a tad skeptical, I'm here to walk with you, step by step, into this fascinating aspect of our being.

Understand Your Energetic Body

Let's start with the basics. Just like we have a physical body that we can see and touch, many traditions and modern practices suggest we also have an energetic body — an invisible layer of life force that surrounds and permeates our physical selves. Everything in our Universe is energy. You might have heard terms like 'aura', 'chakras', or 'qi' (pronounced chee) thrown around in wellness circles. I'll tell you I've heard this a lot being a massage therapist and very comfortable in these circles. I also realize that everyone isn't in the same place, so I'm here for you. Here, we'll gently unpack what these mean and how they relate to our everyday lives.


I remember the first time I encountered the idea of an energy related to bodywork. I was skeptical, to say the least. But as I delved deeper and experienced energy work firsthand, I noticed subtle yet profound changes in my well-being. It's like realizing there's a gentle breeze you hadn't noticed before — but once you do, it feels undeniably refreshing.

I had attended training for Reiki (which isn't voodoo) and learned to sense some energetic sensations. I am not always highly attuned, but also trust that I am simply a channel. It's not about me, but trust my role simply as a channel. I did some Reiki work on my husband, Bruce's knee which was pretty ornery, and he was almost as surprised as me when it felt better the next day! That was a cool moment and affirmation of this modality.


The Science of Frequencies

Everything in the universe, including us, is made up of energy vibrating at different frequencies. This isn't just spiritual talk — it's physics! Our thoughts, emotions, and physical health all contribute to our personal energy frequency. Imagine tuning a radio: when the frequency is just right, the music is clear and uplifting. Our bodies work similarly, resonating with the energies around us.



What's Your Experience?

Have you ever walked into a room and immediately felt uneasy, or conversely, felt a sense of peace in another environment? That's energy in action! Our energetic bodies are constantly interacting with the frequencies around us, whether we're conscious of it or not. Sometimes you can notice more easily with our pets. They are highly sensitive to our moods. Have you ever had a cat or dog come up and seek affection when you were actually needing it? That's not a coincidence.


How Do Frequencies Affect Us?

Our daily lives are filled with different frequencies, from the electromagnetic fields of our electronic devices to the soothing vibrations of nature. Understanding how these frequencies can impact our energetic bodies can empower us to make mindful choices about our environment and activities.


Tips for Harmonizing Your Energy

1. Spend time in nature: Nature emits calming frequencies that can help realign our energy. Standing barefoot on Mother Earth helps discharge negative energy and gather grounding energy.


2. Mind your tech use: Limit exposure to electronic devices, especially before bedtime.


3. Practice mindfulness: Activities like meditation, yoga, and deep breathing can help maintain a balanced energy frequency. Sometimes listening to a recording to help you through a practice can be highly effective and beneficial. YouTube has amazing resources.


It's Okay to be a Skeptic

If this all sounds a bit out there, I hear you. It's okay to be skeptical — questioning is part of the journey. I encourage you to explore these ideas with an open heart and mind. Notice how different environments and practices make you feel. Sometimes, our understanding grows not from what we can see, but from what we can feel.


Embarking on the journey of understanding our energetic bodies and the frequencies that affect us is like opening a new door to wellness and self-awareness. It's not about leaving skepticism at the door but inviting it along as a critical friend who helps us dig deeper and understand more profoundly.
